Mars- The Red Planet

Sol 362, 2036 – My name is Harrison Irwin, botanist on the Nautilus shuttle. Our mission on Mars is to investigate the possibility of life on Mars- that there was at some point, is now or could be in the future. Our first job is to take samples of the sand and the layers underneath the sand. Mission control is extremely interested in the strange light patches that cover the terrain. They speculate that these could be evidence that there is, or was, liquid water on the planet. I have my own suspicions, but we will take samples from the patches and let the tests tell their stories.

There is also interest in the temperature at various points on the Martian surface. Scientists want to compare differences to Earth’s temperature and also understand whether this could impact life on the planet.
